Dickson Obeng Nsiah Barwuah is the visionary CEO behind Skate Multimedia Studio, a passionate cinematographer and creative director with deep roots in storytelling and visual artistry. Born on December 7, 1988, in Greater Accra, Dickson proudly traces his heritage to Paakoso in the Ashanti Region. Raised in a close-knit family with strong moral and educational values, his parents—Maxwell Obeng Nsiah and Florence Pobee—have been an unwavering pillar of support in his life journey.

Dickson’s upbringing between Suhum in the Eastern Region and Greater Accra immersed him in a blend of cultures that shaped his worldview and sparked his early interest in the arts. Though disciplined and grounded in academics, it was his natural curiosity and fascination with visual expression that ultimately led him to pursue a career in cinematography.

His journey began with a humble passion for sketching, photography, and video experiments, gradually evolving into a serious craft after his tertiary education. He started freelancing on small projects and events, using each opportunity to master the art of storytelling through the lens. With time, tools like Adobe Photoshop and Premiere became extensions of his creativity, and mentorship from industry professionals helped refine his skills.

Today, Dickson is known for his ability to translate ideas into powerful, cinematic visuals—whether through documentaries, commercials, or branded films. His work reflects a careful balance of movement and stillness, color and emotion, always crafted with intention. Under his leadership, Skate Multimedia Studio is not just a production outfit but a hub of innovation, pushing the boundaries of Ghana’s creative industry.

While he admits to fears of failure and regrets over not pursuing formal film training earlier, he views every setback as a stepping stone. His resilience and commitment have led to remarkable accomplishments—from building a fulfilling career from scratch to seeing his work displayed on billboards and national television.
